The Mountains had never had a name, only called The Mountains.
That was until just after The Founding ((The Founding was where the Imperium moved into Septrem and began construction on the City.)) After the Founding, pilgrims and Monks sought solitude from the Imperial City, and decided to make their own place of worship in the forest.
However while encamped halfway through the journey, Soshu was enlightened. He saw the light, and it came from The Mountains. From this point, they headed for the hills, to contruct the Monestary.
It took over 500 years to complete, and ofcourse the original pilgrims died long before it's completion - but they are always to be remembered in the temple.
The Monestary would take in dedicated students each year, and would train them in the ways of Ninjitsu and under the religion of Taoism.
