Government
Hirren is run by a group called the circle of the Trusted, a table of ten members which can be referred to as advisers. At the head is the Captain, a descendant of the pirate captain that first settled in Hirren.
He has an overall rule, and what he says goes, although a wise leader will also take into account the council of the trusted. The current leader is Artaxerxes Hirren, a man whom listens to the council more than not, and often lets them simply get on with the finer details.
Aesthetics
The town is mostly built from wood, raised on platforms above the level of the sea and marsh. This means that all of the paths are raised as well, and very few people walk on the ground below.
The harsh weather of the coastal region means that the people tend to wear thick and long clothing, heavy boots and often more than three layers, however in the summer, the weather drastically changes to hot and humid, making it difficult all year around.
Agriculture
The farming of the local lands is difficult and those that wish to farm crops must travel some way along the coast to find dry enough, fertile land. This means that they often import more food rather than grow their own.
Meat is easy enough to find, as the animals are kept in the very borders of the town, on the marsh floor in places where it is dryer and has enough food.
Trade
The town trades much of it's stolen goods, mostly for food and ammunition for their ample supply of weapons, although much wood must be traded for, as well as the metal to build their ships and make their weapons.
They are willing to trade with most nations who will not remove the head of their leader, and are not fussy about the original location of the stock, as long as you do not mind bartering for their own stolen items
