Leo sat behind his table, the blunderbus was now complete, twenty five of them were made for the Hirran.
The engineer rubbed his chin, the amount of work put into these weapons was something he needed to improve it took at least one day to create a blunderbus.
Leonardo took of his head gear and picked up the last of the finished blunderbus and started to load it. The 'black powder' went in first and then the five small ball bearings and then more 'black powder' in the firing mechanism.
Leo took aim and pulled the trigger, the noise that came next would demoralise anyone that was at the recieving end and the damage would do worse.

Art quickened his pace, it was hard work getting their cargo so far inland, particularly such a heavy cargo. He glanced back over the carridge, carrying the cargo deep within under lock and key. It made him nervous traveling with only one other, but he couldn't spare any more this time.
"Hah!" He cracked the reins of the horse and felt a burst of relief at the jolt of speed. He could see Ulthan ahead and it wouldn't take long for the dark haired pirate to be safely within it's walls. Well relatively safely.
The carridge trundled into the city and to the workshop he knew so well. He often traded with the Ulthan's, they had technology and weapons that no one else had, and that and the magic gave the pirates a crucial edge on both sea and land. He reigned the horses in and slid off carefully, glacing about before swaggering towards the door and giving it a loud knock.
"Hello mate, fancy letting a parched captain in?" He called through the heavy door with a smile to no one in particular.

Leo rushed to the door and undone all the locks. The heavy door slid open and Leo smiled. "Hey I have your new weapons." Leonardo urged Artaxerxes inside and pointed towards the twenty five blunderbus lying on the tables.
"Go and have a go." Leonardo ran towards the wooden boxes in which was painted a red and yellow target.
"You love this one, unlike the other I made, this one actully fires!" Leo's smile broadened, his dirty overall's moving in the slight breeze.

Artaxerxes stepped in the door, taking his time regardless of the rushing and urging scientist. His hand fell to his hip, only to feel that his precious rum flask was empty, a heavy sigh leaving his lips.
He followed after the scientist and picked up the heavy two handed gun. "Is this one safe, the last one nearly cost me an eye..." He murmered, walking over in front of the target, some way away and lifting the Blunderpus up. Once he was comfortable with the change in weight, he allowed his finger to squeeze on the cool metal trigger.
He kick was rather more than he expected, and he had to put his foot back and steady himself against the ripping power of the gun in his hands.

"See, see it does a lot of damage." Leonardo sat back down and started to scribble something down. "Now we can do around fifteen a month, depening on materials." Leo rubbed his hands in the overall and then stuck his finger in the air.
"Your cannons however need to be rebuilt, we kinda had a accident." Like a kid Leo ran towards a massive door which led to a outside stable where all the cannons lied down in pieces.
"The weight and she cannon ball itself was too much for your cannon to handle, however we are replacing your cannons for free and they will be in your town within two months.....if that's ok with you?"
Leo smiled again and moved out of the way for Art to inspect the mess. "We do have one working though if you would like to see that."

Artaxerxes put down the Blumberpus, rather hastily, should it go off in his hands and ruin some part of his body, it was a fiersome weapons, but he deicded he would let the rest of his crew they them first.
Art simply niodded and followed the overenthusiastic Leonardo out into the courtyard. What greeted him was a little disheartening. Pieces of cannons were strewn about the place, making it look as if someone had simply thrown scrap metal out into the yard.
"Well... at least we know they are powerful." He said, a little stunned as he gazed around at the remnants of his cannons. "Two months,,, sure." They would be getting some serious testing before he put one of them on his ships.
A few steps and the pirate decided that if they ever did work, they would be a supreme force on the sea to take down a whole ship. "Do you really think that is wise?" He said simply, looking at the destruction.

"Well we test them, we shoot them into the forest and my god you can see the trees fall down." Leonardo walked back in and then walked towards his works unit and gave the captain his last piece of equipment. "This is a small version of the blunderbus, as you can see it's the same as a flintlock except it fires around five musket balls instead of the standard one."
Leo aimed at the target board and fired, the sound was much softer than the bigger versions but did the same damage. "This is just a prototype but we can mass produce these when we figure out why they jam now and again but to show good will you can have this one free of charge."
The engineer sat back down and smiled. "So did you get the stuff we asked for?"

"Ah, right..." He decided he would let them test them after he was off the premisis, the thought of one of those things exploding while he was near by was rather more than he could face right at this moment, as his body began to process the alcohol, making him feel more and more sober by the second.
The pirate was interested in the smaller gun though, it did in fact look very similar to his own flintlock, thrust in his belt at this moment, rather in clear view to keep any trouble at arms length. "This one doesn't explode then.." He picked up the miniature blunderpuss and tossed it ab out him his hands, it might have been a little heavier, a little clumsier than his usual flint lock, but most guns were.
His attention was snapped back to reality at the sound of the engineers voice. "Yeah mate." A flick of his head shook his dreadlocks in the direction of the door. "In the carridge outside. One of ma men is sittin' on it right now." It had been such a pain to pull all of the metal across the marshes, and for once he was thankful of the raised road platforms.

Leo smiled and walked outside. "Hey can I have the materials please? Your boss says it's ok." Leo waited hoping the pirate would hand it to him but he never.
The engineer nodded his head while the pirate talked, he didn't have a clue what he was saying so he walked back into the workshop to talk to Art.
"Hey can you tell your friend to give me my stuff now, I need the raw copper to help tune the cannons and to make my new invention that will surely make me join the academy......i'm building a steam tank." The engineer's smile turned into a grin and then he chuckled,. "It will take a while to make though."

Art strolled out of the door and nodded to the crew member. "It's alright, give 'im the stuff." The captain moved towards the carriage and pulled open the side, just enough for the engineer to see inside. He didn't open it completely, it wasn't a good idea for the rest of the street to see it exactly. Anyway, someone might recognise it, although he doubted it.
"Where do you want it?" Art asked, looking around for a place, handily close that he could get John (his crew member) to dump the metal. He didn't like the thought of hefting it himself, he might do his back in or something, besides, it was why he brought muscle with him.
"I would ask what a steam tank is, but does it run along the lines of blowing things up?" he turned and looked at the scientist quizzically, dubious at how this rather dangerous sounding invention would work

Leo shrugged "Don't know yet it's more of a fortress on wheels." Leo walked into his workshop and pointed where he wanted the goods. "Anyway the cannons when they done are we gonna drop them off or are you gonna pick them up?" Leonardo sat back down and then placed the glasses on his head and started to magnify them. "You know I have a selection of items you can add on to your weapons like, exploding bullets and scopes that you can see for up to a mile."
Leo looked back up, Art was now zoomed in which made Leo jump.

Art looked in the worshop where Leo wanted them and turned to look at the other pirate and with a smile and a shrug, left him to heave the metal in. He could hear cursing and muttering all the way through as he returned his attention to the engineer.
"Mate, have you seen my transport. I can barely take a load of metal. How the hell am I supposed to transport cannons?" His eyebrows raised quizically, his shoulders shrugged and his head cocked to one side. He always spoke with overenthusiatic hand gestures, along with the slight slurring of his words, it was something that people just had to live with.
When Leo jumped, Art simply raised an arched eyebrow, one hand on his hip. "Am I really that scary." He grinned, his dreadlocks pushed to the side for a moment, held in place by the red bandana he wore, although they never looked particularly neat. The silver rings that encircled some of them clinked as he pushed them out of his face.
"If you can transport them, do. If not, I guess I'll have to get them won't I?"

"Well we can transport them so don't worry." Leo said while he started to put all the add on's on the desk.
"We have soo many stuff." Leo wanted to get rid of most of them, he didn't need them anymore. "So then we will transport the goods in one month time ok." Leo stood up and held his hand out for Art to shake.

He nodded and smiled, the fact was, he really didn't like the journey here, the paths in the swamp made him nervous. He could have taken a ship up the river, but it meant passing too close to other cities, and he would still have to haul the cargo through the woods.
"Great." He was ratehr pleased by the amount of objects Leo seemed to be packing, not that he had much of a clue what they were, but it was still interesting. "One month, gotcha." He took the man's hand with his own large and heavily ringed hand.
His right had four rings, his left three. All of them were set with precious jews, in rather dark and pirate like patterns and insignias. One was a particularly large skull, rubies for eyes, which seemed to be glaring from the pirate captain's very hand.
he let go of his firm and hard hand shake, his callused and hard hands showing his hard life at sea, ahd his long hours spent training with his sabre that lay at his side. Not only that, but some of his magics had a rather nasty sting, and damaged his hands, thankfully, he didn't often use it. Many people accused him of being a fake, simply because they thought he had no powers.

Leo smiled and watched the captain leave. Finally Leo could inspect the metals he brought back, the copper and lead would be used for the engine while the steel would be used for the inner armour.
Leonardo sat back down and smiled this would be a very succesful invention.
