An eyebrow quirked above Ixchel's dark eye, a curious look of surprise on her face and she continued to stare at the monk. Her arms, in all their tattooed glory, slowly folded themselves across her waist, and her fingers coiled about her elbows to clasp them in their weak grip - but her eyes never strayed from the stranger's unknown face, which seemed frighteningly calm in spite of the information he had just given both her and her political superior.
"And you are planning on walking that distance by yourself?" She responded with a frown of discomfort, her tone matter-of-fact beneath the exotic accent that had forced itself upon her. Walking all that way was nigh unfathomable to her mind, especially when one seemed to have not a single coin in their possession - nor any supplies, for that matter. It would be a dangerous trek, that was for certain, but Ixchel was quick to get the impression that the man could defend himself when forced to.
Her waist twisted beneath what she now called clothing as her feet remained still, her dark eyes fixed on Artexerxes once again, as though his thoughts on the situation held some merit to her, but when she was met with not a single word, Ixchel returned herself into her straight position, all attention turned back to the monk. She waited in silence for his response, dark tendrils of hair tickling her face and tinkling against her earrings.

"As always." He said. It was not a statement wanting pity, or attention. It was a fact, no other monk was aloud to come from the monastery, it was a great honor bestowed on him.
Sometimes he wished he had company, however. The trips were long and boring, especially this side of the forest - it seemed to go on forever.
He was in dire need of a new pair of sandles, these were waring out and had been thin for a while. "It's not too far. I try to distract myself." He said.

A small smile tugged at the edge of her lips, mixed with a bat of thick lashes over deep bistre brown eyes. She fidgeted about in her place, crossing one leg over the other. The long limb tinkled with rich, intricate anklets - a few of them spoils from a raid, others gifts from her mother that had been passed to her as a child, the slightly darkened skin of legs, arms, and even the side of her curved torso exposed to the merciless light of the sun, whilst at the same time providing Ixchel with the comfort of knowing that a simple breeze from the mountains wouldn't disrupt the fabric without any embarrassing consequences - Artexerxes would have enjoyed that far too much.
"It must take a lot of distracting." She answered, her foreign voice lighter, more jovial compared to the initial surprise she had felt at the man's words. Obviously, her perception of a great distance and that of this man's were far too different to one another to see eye-to-eye on the matter. Her arms still pressed against the stomach that sat beneath the fabric of her humble ensemble, Ixchel's head twisted backwards, her eyes squinting in the harsh light as she attempted to peer around the first cart to see to its back - but no such luck fell upon her.
As quickly as she had done it, her leg pulled itself away from its twin. With a jingle akin to that of a string of bells, and complete with a small ripple of both fabric and hair, and a leap of jewelery that hung from her neck and hips and dared to dislodge the material that continued to half-cover her, the woman skipped back a few steps, her eyes still narrowed, their gaze directed away from the monk and towards the back of the canvas covered cart, or more specifically, one of the three horses that had been strung to it the dusty road. She glanced to the stranger, and back to the horse, and back to the stranger, and back to the horse one last time before trying her luck at solving the man's problem. "Art, tell me...do we need this horse?" She queried, another babble of metal singing from her body as she returned to her previous place. Her eyes returned to the face of the monk, a kindly smile on her features. "Because I think someone could use its help a great deal more than we ever could."

Artaxerxes had listened quietly, hoping to slip off rather soon without too much loss, but he saw the looks from Ixchel to the horse, glancing back at the stranger and he only just supressed his sigh.
What was worse, loosing a horse or facing a rather angry, semi clothed Ixchel. He knew how badly that could go wrong. A hesitent look passed over his face as he murmured something rather inaudible along the lines of. "Well, even if I say we do, you are going to give it away and still remove some of my vital organs..." But he would never admit to that...
"Regardless what I say, I am going to end up being a good samaritan and giving away a horse." He smiled halfheartedly at the mok, following a small roll of the eyes regarding the rather terrifying nature of the skantily clad woman that he would have to bear all of the way back to Hirren.
He wished he had kept going now, although... it might have been worth it...
